From July 12th to 15th, 2024, the Cambodian Youth Network Association (CYN) organized an event known as the Justpace Camp under the theme of “Youth for environmental justice and human rights”. This event was held at Prey Kba Khla community in Kampong Thom Province and brought together 31 participants, including 20 females. The attendees represented youth and communities from various regions, including youth and communities from Kampong Thom, Stung Treng, Kratie, and Preah Vihear province, universities students, CYN’s members, and CYN’s computer class’s student.
The primary objective of this event was to establish networking among youth and communities, and sharing experience.
Throughout the event, participants gained insights into various aspects of community organization, challenges, and an action plan for protecting forest. They had the opportunity to listen to experiences shared by Young Human Rights Defender youth about their work for society and protect national resources. Participants also learned about fundamental rights and environmental justice. Additionally, participants came to appreciate the importance of natural resources and strengthened their connection with the environment and local communities through study sessions, community immersion experiences, and forest patrols. Finally, they established networks among youth and communities.
