Program “Building relationships between youth and communities in the protection of natural resources”

From July 12th to 15th, 2025, the Cambodian Youth Network Association (CYN) organized an event known as “Linking Youth and Community Networks in Natural Resources Protection.” This event was held at Monks Community Forest Wildlife Sanctuary in Oddar Meanchey province and brought together 31 participants, including 13 females and 1 LGBTIQ+. The event aimed to create and build networks, learning platforms for young people from different areas, and exchange experiences on natural resource protection activities, and develop joint action plans for social issues.
As a result, participants figured out youth and Prey Lang community experience related to the protection of natural resources, particularly forests and marine biodiversity as well as the challenges, strategies, encouragement in this work, mobilizing, and approaches to solving problems in the community. Furthermore, attendees learned about principles of good governance and mock community lead that apply good governance principles. Moreover, participants listened to the community share the background of the establishment of the monk community forest wildlife sanctuary, management methods, and methods for preventing crime in the forest. In addition, participants contributed to planting 8,000 trees during the Tree Day and understood the importance of natural resources and connecting with nature.
