Launches Month-Long 1000 Km Cycling Campaign for World Environment Day 2024 Celebration
The Cambodian Youth Network Association, in collaboration with 13 civil society organizations, is proud to announce a month-long World Environment Day 2024 celebration, from May 6th to June 5th, 2024. The theme for this year’s event is “The well-being of the planet is our shared responsibility.”
Throughout the celebration, various activities will be organized by civil society organizations, local communities, and youth groups across Cambodia. These activities will encompass cycling events, social media campaigns, community gatherings, and a culminating mangrove seedling planting and environmental forum in Phnom Penh.
The month-long program begins with a momentous event: the World Environment Day “1000km Cycling Event for the Environment.” A dedicated team of 25 cyclists will embark on a challenging 20-day journey, traversing nearly 1,000 kilometers from Ratanakkiri province in the northeast to Kampot province in the southwest of Cambodia.
We extend a heartfelt invitation to authorities, journalists, communities, and the general public to actively participate and collaborate in promoting environmental protection, advocating for environmental rights, and working together to prevent climate change. Our collective efforts are crucial to ensure access to a clean and healthy environment for all, both now and for generations to come.
