On 23rd November 2024, the Cambodian Youth Network Association organized a sharing program on COP16, the United Nations Conference on Biological Diversity, “Peace and Nature,” at a hotel in Phnom Penh. The program was attended by 38 participants from forest conservation communities, students, and staff from diverse civil society organizations (25 women). The sharing program focused on understanding the framework of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, with a sharing of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (COP15), including the presentation of the 2050 visions and 23 targets to achieve 2030 goals of the conference and sharing of the National Biodiversity Strategic Action Plan (NBSAP), which is very important for helping to conserve biodiversity worldwide and in Cambodia. There was also a dialogue around the recent bilateral conference (COP16) in Colombia in 2024, with three speakers dialoguing in depth based on their experiences participating in previous meetings. However, we noticed that the sharing and dialogue have made participants more aware of the global biodiversity framework and its benefits for biodiversity conservation in Cambodia.
