About Us

CYN IS A YOUTH-MEMBER-BASED ASSOCIATION

The Cambodian Youth Network Association (CYN) was established on October 31, 2009, by a group of students from four universities in Cambodia. CYN was officially registered with the Ministry of Interior on 07 May 2013, a local non-governmental organisation (NGO) that operates as a youth member-based association. CYN is a local NGO not affiliated with any political party or religion. CYN works with students and rural youth networks and communities, aiming at increasing youth participation, civic engagement, and social movement amongst youths in Cambodia. To achieve these objectives, CYN has organised and mobilised Cambodian youths (in Phnom Penh and rural communities), empowered them through provisions of capacity development (in human rights, relevant laws and policies affect youths, as well as job-skills), and supported their civil and political engagement, as well as participating in advocacy activities to demand social justice, respect for human rights, and enhance democracy. As a result, knowledge and skills have been enhanced for Cambodian youths through university and provincial youth networks. Since 2012, several peaceful advocacy activities organised by youths have been conducted, focusing mainly on natural resource protection and conservation, national minimum wage, and human rights promotion among youths in Cambodia.
